You are already working across multiple imaging modalities. What has been the biggest learning curve so far?
“The biggest learning curve has been gaining confidence across different modalities. Each system has its own complexity, and stepping into new areas can be challenging at first. For me, it’s been about putting myself out there, asking questions, and trusting the process as I continue to learn.”
What motivated you to attend the mammography training with Innovative Radiology?
“I was motivated to attend the training to further expand my knowledge and strengthen my skill set across imaging modalities, particularly in a specialized area like mammography. As a woman in the imaging field, this opportunity was especially meaningful to me because of the direct impact this modality has on women’s health. I also appreciated that Intelas supported me in attending the training and continuing to expand my technical knowledge in a specialized area of imaging. It allows me to contribute in a more meaningful way by supporting technology that plays a critical role in early detection and patient care. Additionally, the hands-on aspect of the training was extremely valuable, as it allowed me to apply what I was learning in a practical setting and build confidence working with the equipment.”
What was the most valuable takeaway or skill you gained from the training?
“One of the most valuable takeaways I gained from mammography training was the opportunity to fully work through the equipment from start to finish. We disassembled and reassembled the systems, completed calibrations, and performed PM procedures, etc., which gave me a much deeper understanding of how the equipment operates. The training also helped build my technical knowledge while learning from experienced professionals in the field.”
As someone early in your career, what excites you most about the future of imaging technology?
“I’m most excited for the speed that technology in imaging is growing and evolving. There is always something new to learn, which keeps the job exciting and challenging. I also love knowing that the work we do directly impacts patient care by helping keep important imaging equipment running safely and efficiently.”
What challenges have you faced entering a field that can be very technical and experience driven?
“One of the biggest challenges has been stepping into a field where a lot of knowledge comes from hands-on experience. Early on, it can feel like there is a lot to learn at once, but I’ve focused on staying open, asking questions, and learning from those around me.”
What drives you to excel and stand out in such a demanding field?
“What drives me to excel in this field is my determination to continue learning and growing, especially being early in my career. Working alongside experienced and knowledgeable coworkers motivates me to keep improving my skills and gaining as much hands on experience as possible. Opportunities from Intelas to attend training and learn from other professionals continue to strengthen my technical knowledge and help me grow in the field. Being a woman in a highly technical career has also helped shape my confidence and work ethic, and it motivates me to continue performing at a high level and building a successful career in the industry.”
How do you approach learning new systems or technologies so quickly and effectively?
“I approach learning new systems and technologies by being as hands on as possible. I learn best through troubleshooting, working directly with the equipment, and asking questions to more experienced engineers. I also take advantage of training and service resources whenever possible. In this field, being adaptable and willing to learn every day is extremely important.”
What advice would you give to others, especially younger professionals, looking to break into imaging or HTM?
